Speed versus cost: when waiting on a bank makes sense.
Fast capital and low-cost capital are not always the same product. If a project can wait through a longer bank process, the lower cost may be worth the paperwork and timeline.
When speed has real value
Speed can matter when the cost of waiting is larger than the extra financing cost: a signed job needs materials, a crew must mobilize, equipment is available now, or a time-sensitive opportunity would otherwise be lost.
Do the whole calculation
Compare total repayment, payment frequency, term, fees, collateral, and prepayment language against the expected value and timing of the opportunity. The right answer is the one the cash flow can support.
